Mayor's Message
As a native and lifelong resident of this community, it is easy for me to love Rochester. Indeed, I have dedicated my entire adult life to its service -- as a Police Officer, as the Chief of Police, now as Mayor. I am very aware of our challenges. But I have no doubt that Rochester can be the best mid-sized city in America.
This belief is based on my experience with Rochester's greatest asset -- its people. From my childhood mentors who first inspired me to join the Police Department to the neighborhood and business leaders who are my partners today, I have seen firsthand what can happen when talented men and women decide they want their community to be a better place. This is the public that my administration and I are so proud to serve.
Priorities of the Duffy Administration
Mayor Duffy has organized his administration around four central priorities: Public Safety, Community and Economic Development, Education, and Customer Service. The Administration has also adopted a vision statement as an adjunct to these priorities.
Administration - The Executive Branch of City Government
The administration performs the City's executive and central support functions. These include strategic planning, developing and implementing policy, and preparing and administering the annual budget and capital improvement plan. The offices of the administration are also responsible for several centralized functions of the City government: Personnel and civil service; communications and public information; examining and evaluating City programs and processes through the Office of Public Integrity; and the City's legal business.
