Commissioner's MeR. Carlos Carballada, Commissionerssage

Welcome to the Department of Neighborhood and Business Development.

This department began operations July 1, 2009 after the merger of the former departments of Economic Development, Community Development and the Neighborhood Service Centers.

Our goal is simple: To improve customer service while reducing the cost of government to help make Rochester the best mid-sized city in America in which to live, work and raise a family.

We are seeing an impressive amount of economic development in the Center City. In our neighborhood commercial areas, we see the beginnings of a grand revitalization, and all of these developments are having a positive effect on every neighborhood in our city.

Great things are coming to our city and those who choose to be a part of it. I encourage you to join the momentum and consider Rochester for your next investment, whether it be a new house or a business expansion.

About Neighborhood and Business Development

The Department of Neighborhood and Business Development's goal is to provide safe, healthy neighborhoods, create thriving commercial corridors, increase economic vitality in underserved areas, assist and develop industry, and create jobs for its citizens.
