Traffic on this section of Broad St. will be reduced to one lane in each direction as work continues on the Broad Street Tunnel Project, which began in February. Turns onto W. Main St., Washington St., Plymouth Ave., Fitzhugh St., and Exchange Blvd. will still be permitted. During this time, there will be no parking allowed on this section of Broad St. and portions of the sidewalk will be closed at various times. Access to all buildings along Broad St. will be maintained.
In addition, beginning Wednesday, April 7, Broad St., between Allen St. and Brown St., will be reduced to one-way southbound. Northbound traffic will be detoured via Morrie Silver Way to Plymouth Ave. to Brown St. to Broad St. This detour will be in effect until November 2010.
The $15 million Broad St. Tunnel Project is a City-administered federal and state aid project that included the filling of the underground subway tunnel from Brown St. to W. Main St.; the rehabilitation and repair of the tunnel from W. Main St. to Exchange St.; the reconstruction of various intersections along Broad St.; and the milling and paving of Broad St. The project was designed by FRA Engineering and Architecture, P.C. of Rochester and work is being performed by Sealand Contractors. The project is expected to be completed by February 2012.
